I thought I’d rescued this from the old site, but unfortunately not so I’ve had to do a quick and dirty re-write.
I re-did my engine wiring loom when I installed the DTA S80, I thought I’d take advantage of all the features (or at least put the wiring in for them!)
- Sensor connectors for air, water, crank etc sensors
- Injector connectors
- 22 gauge Motorsport/Military specification wiring
- Souriau 8STA waterproof motorsport connectors
- Twisted pair with shielding where required
- Heatshrink/braiding
- Idents for labelling 22 gauge wire
- DTA programming/dyno box
- DTA/Emerald ECU to PC leads/extension leads
Each wire has been colour coded with heat shrinkable “idents” to allow easy diagnosis of problems and allow tracability throughout the system – it also allows you have 100+ different colour codes so you never have to have the same coloured wire twice 🙂
Wires all coded up, crimped and ready to be inserted into the connector
The motorsport connector (20mm diameter!) & Close up of the sensor ends of the loom
The engine loom ready for the sensor connectors
Rear engine bay power harness to fuel pumps and accusump and engine bay sensor harness to oil pressure & temp. fuel pressure, lambda, fuel level and rear wheel speed sensors
Wheel speed sensor connector & Connectors passing through rear bulkhead
CAN Auxillary sensor connector for future proof expansion & Harness being laid up in the cockpit
Wiring loom 90% finished:
All of the fancy connectors, the wire, idents and specialist crimpers were sourced from BF1 Connect ( http://www.bf1connect.com/ )
The “normal” connectors for sensors & braiding were sourced from Vehicle Wiring Products ( http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/ )
Heatshrink sourced from Maplin!
Once I find the CAD file, I’ll PDF the wiring loom layout for all to see…Found it!! Shelsley engine wiring loom
