Electric water pump EWP80 fitted in return line next to radiator outlet as low as possible.
Mechanical water pump, steering pump and support bracket all removed and replaced with light weight alternator brackets. New bracket also doubles as water inlet (from radiator outlet).
Shorter alternator belt is required (570mm) and a revised tensioner (Ford Focus) does the job.
Latest, system has been filled, primed and ran. No leaks
Pump runs on after shut down, all seems to be working correctly.
Really nice job. The bracket work is neat & tidy, and it creates so much free space to allow air circulation. I like it!
My EWP is a much tighter fix as I simply used the old pump housing, and continued to use the Steering compressor for power steering (I’m so used to this I’d really miss it!).
I’ve contemplated doing something similar to yours but haven’t had the courage to tell the wife there’s another job to be done….
My EWP is up front as well, it works well.
Alan, have you got the controller on there as well or just got the pump hooked up to the ignition?
I have wired in a controller, located in passenger foot well tunnel side.
Not run it yet.
